Skyway!

What's the meaning behind the band's name?
No real meaning behind the name we kind of just liked it, I've been told the name Skyway is the name of some old school BMX rims, I guess we will go with that.

How the band started??

Pretty much just they boys were friends from school and started jamming but they didn't have a singer. I (Dan) came along and was always keen to sing in a band so I tried out and the rest is history I guess.

What's the message to transmit with your music??

It's really all about having fun, I mean the lyrics are about things I've experienced or my friends have we just want everyone to have some fun and a good time when they listen/ come to a show.

What's your method at the time of writing a song??

Someone will come up with a riff usually and everyone will elaborate on it putting in there different opinions, it works most of the time, sometimes songs just pop up out of nowhere, which is cool!

Which is your music influences??

Everyone in the band has really different influences I guess, but we all share a common interest in the pop punk/punk genre bands like Millencolin, New Found Glory, Decendants, Lifetime, Daggermouth.

What plans do you guys have for the future??
We Have a tour with the Wonder Years (USA) in September, as well as 2 more national Australian tours before the end of the year!

Which has been the funniest prank you guys have been or took part while on tour or after a show??
Probably when we were on tour earlier in the year with another Australia band called House Vs Hurricane, we put pizza all over there van even in the vents and under the door handles, Haha then blamed it on someone else!

If you guys were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 65 miles away from where you guys are, ¿Who would you guys send to look for help? And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, who would you eat first?
I think we would probably send Ron, he watches Man vs. Wild a lot and I think he might be able to handle himself in the wild and find some help, we would probably eat Mike first he is a vegetarian so he would be full of nutrients!

Which country you guys would love to play?

We would love to play the US; the scene for bands like us looks amazing over there at the moment!

With which bands you guys would love to share stage??
New Found Glory probably, there one of my favorite bands of all time!

Are you guys OK, with the direction the band is going actually?
We are stoked! Everyone is looking forward to progressing musically! I think its what you have to do as a band to keep things fresh.

With Ravens

What's the meaning behind the band's name?
There are cultures that believe that ravens carry the souls of people who had died some time in the past and that the ravens are like the go betweens for life on earth and the afterlife. We thought it was a cool concept, so we took it as our name.

How the band started??
Averri and Alex had always been playing music together since they were kids, and Averri met Brandon in middle school and they found out that they both loved playing guitar. A couple weeks later, Alex, Averri and Brandon were in the garage playing music. However, it wasn't until two years later when they became With Ravens officially.

What's the message to transmit with your music??
We just want to make good music, and have a lot of fun in the process.

What's your method at the time of writting a song??
Sometimes Brandon writes a riff and Averri will figure out a melody. As for lyrics, Averri and Alex will write the actual lyrics together. Other times, we'll all get together and jam until we find something that we like, and that we think other people will enjoy too.

Which is your music influences??
We all listen to a lot of rock music, but our personal favorite genres range from pop punk to hardcore punk, alternative to acoustic. We really try to pull different elements from our own favorite bands and music styles to make a sound that we can call our own. The Used is a major influence for us as a band, they're so full of raw energy and their sound is so versatile; it's something we really took to heart as a band and we try to approach our music, whether it be performing or writing, the same way.

What plans do you guys have for the future??
We plan to play some shows with some of the other local bands in the area to really show Memphis that there is a scene here that is a lot cooler than what they're really used to seeing.

Which has been the funniest prank you guys have been or took part while on tour or after a show??
One of the pranks that we've pulled was done on Brandon, and it included a dummy that freaked him out so bad he hated being in the same room with it. One morning, he was sleeping in late while the rest of us were awake. We thought it would be funny to lay the dummy right next to him in his bed. When he woke up and saw it, he went nuts. The rest of us just watched and laughed.

If you guys were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 65 miles away from where you guys are, ¿Who would you guys send to look for help? And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, ¿Who would you eat first?
If we were ever in that situation, we'd send Alex to go get help. And if we got so hungry waiting for him that we had to resort to eating each other, Brandon would be the first to go.

Which country you guys would love to play?
We'd love to play in Germany, Japan, or Australia.

With which bands you guys would love to share stage??
The Used, obviously. We really would love to play with them. My Chemical Romance and 30 Seconds to Mars would be other bands we'd love playing with. It would also be cool to play with Falling In Reverse.

Are you guys OK, with the direction the band is going actually?
We're very happy with the direction the band is going. We're creating a sound that truely defines us as a band, and people seem to be responding really well to it.

Novus Dae

1. What's the meaning behind the band's name?
Tim - The band name is an alpha-symbolic integration of the equations that describe the universe at its most fundamental quantum level. Also, we summoned Jesus through a gateway created by intense levels of chi energy and the appropriate balance of dark matter. He told us the name sounded really cool.
Ryan - It's not really a literal translation, but Tim's definition is pretty close.

2. How the band started??
Thorne - A long, long time ago; before man walked upright and culture was a million years out... a very sexy mud-flipper landed on Pangaea bringing unknown sexually-transmitted diseases with it. And in the early stages of man we were very horny creatures, so our ancestral man (Ricky) decided to have his way with that not-so-innocent mud-flipper! After doing so, he developed a very nasty rash and later died. In later years to come, all of our other ancestral brothers talked about it until they realized that if they would have used saltwater and poured it over the rash, that Ricky could have lived. They called the remedy Novus Dae!!
Ryan - What the f*$k did you just say? Dude, smoke another one. What my friend here is trying to say, is that we started as a group of friends just getting together to jam. Several years later, here we are.
Greg - I like Thorne's historical account better.

3. What's the message to transmit with your music??
Tim - Positive change...both personally and for the rest of the world. Also, using music as an outlet for your thoughts, feelings, and emotions.

4. What's your method at the time of writing a song??
Tim - Our method varies from one person having a full song idea to all of us sitting in the room together, hashing the song out from beginning to end.

Ryan - A lot of the time, Greg sits in the studio to hash-out ideas. Part of his process is smashing stuff and drinking copious amounts of coffee whilst smoking about 14 packs of cigarettes. He knows how good of a song it is by how many cigarettes he has to smoke. I think One Night's Madness was about 26 packs.
Thorne - Get really tanked until we stumble across something we have never heard before! Maybe.

5. What are your music influences??
Tim - Tool, Nirvana, Miles Davis, and other musicians I've heard/performed with.
Ryan - I started liking metal/rock because of Metallica. Then later I got into Tool, System of a Down, Chevelle, etc... But I've been known to listen to anything from Busta Rhymes to Garth Brooks.

Greg - I'm all over the place. Anything from grunge, to punk, to metal, to jazz, to blues.

6. What plans do you guys have for the future??
Tim - Hitting the road in support of Control Yourself while making new friends on the way. Hopefully starting other album come winter.

Thorne - To find more remedies like the one found after Ricky's tragic misfortune.

7. Which has been the funniest prank you guys have been or took part while on tour or after a show??
Tim - Great question! Not really a prank but more a bet. Our bass player was challenged to a McDonald's quarter-pounder eating contest... he hasn't been the same since.
Ryan - Dude, that was worse than a hangover. But there were fries and milk-shakes involved too. Sigh...

8. If you guys were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 65 miles away from where you guys are. Who would you guys send to look for help? And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other. Who would you eat first?
Tim - I would make the walk after enjoying some grilled Thorne.
Thorne - I guess I would eat myself... while Tim walked! But Tim would get lost, therefor everyone's screwed!

9. Which country you guys would love to play?
Tim - The Netherlands or Croatia.
Ryan - France, Australia. Actually I'd like to just go to Australia period.

10. With which bands you guys would love to share stage??
Tim - Tool! But more realistically, Sevendust, Deftones or Protest the Hero.
Greg - Fantomas, Mr. Bungle, Killswitch Engage, Tool among others.

11. Are you guys OK, with the direction the band is going actually?
Tim - Yes...we set some goals at the beginning of the year and many have come to fruition!
Ryan - We're working on things pretty hard right now. Making things happen.
Trying to stay positive. Let's do it!

Girl On Fire

Alternative/Rock

What's the meaning behind the band's name? - A girl in high school was wearing too much hairspray and over the candle lit dinner we had some of her weave caught on fire. The name came up after reminiscing about the event.

How the band started??
- It started off by Nick, Harry and Austin working at a well known retail store where they met. On new years of 2007 a bet/new year’s resolution was made between Austin and some friends from the scene to start a band and see where it goes. Nick & Harry had already talked about jamming and playing some music to Austin, but if a band was to be started it was going to be done the right way. Soon after first playing together Brent was brought in, as he is \a childhood friend of Nick and Harry. Four months after that while recording their first demo Josh came in to rock the bass.

What's the message to transmit with your music??
- when we write music we don't plan on putting a message behind it or anything, if it's ends up there it ends up there. Some of it could be; always look on the bright side of things; there is a light at the end of the tunnel; you're not alone. It's all mostly life experiences brought to a musical aspect for healing and therapy

What's your method at the time of writing a song??
- Any idea that pops up writes it down and let’s makes a song. Our method is madness.

Which is your music influences??
- Life, death, heartache, happiness, parties, tour. As for the musical part there are too much to name.

What plans do you guys have for the future??
- Tour the world for the rest of our lives and never come home.

Which has been the funniest prank you guys have been or took part while on tour or after a show??
- We don't do too many pranks on tour just because we just drive, kick it, play shows and party after that... But Austin did go over a speed bump at Warped Tour pretty quick while Nick and Josh were asleep in the trailer. You could hear Nick hit his head on the top of the trailer.

If you guys were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 65 miles away from where you guys are, ¿Who would you guys send to look for help? And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, ¿Who would you eat first?
- We would send Bob Saget to get help (assuming he somehow got on the tour with us), and have you seen "The Book of Eli"? Those people get shaky and gross as hell! No way we will ever eat someone, I know I'd rather die!

Which country you guys would love to play?
- Anywhere outside of the U.S would be awesome

With which bands you guys would love to share stage??
- Linkin Park, The Used, Buckcherry, & Eminem

Are you guys OK, with the direction the band is going actually?
- Of course, we have a system that works and we all want to be able to live our lives playing music, without having normal jobs. We've tried a lot of different styles in the rock realm but we now feel really good with what we've been writing for the last year or so. We write a lot and whether a song makes the cut or not, it's something that we can do together as a group of friends that loves to write, record, play and tour, and that's all we want to do with our lives.

Convalesce

Where the band's name came from?
We had a different name before (a promise never broken) but after deciding to move to the states we all agreed to make a full change, and so we wanted a different "cool" name so we search all over for that perfect name, we came up with a list of about 10 names, the list came down to I am shelter and convalesce, then we looked up the meaning of convalesce (Recover one's health and strength over a period of time after an illness) and for the new message we wanted to give, it was just perfect, a new beginning and all for the better of us all.

How the band started??
We started around Feb. 2006 I believe, we all knew each other from playing shows together in different local bands. When all of them broke up Anthony and Gerardo "former guitarist" decided to do a new band, after jamming with David and brother Elston they quickly decided to have them on board, we wrote two songs in one day, we were stoked that we finally had people to write the music that we wanted to write then. But we were still short member, hats when Anthony and Gerardo spoke to an old friend called Luis to audition for the band as our bass player, after the first practice together we all agreed that he was meant to be, so quickly we became huge at our local scene back in Puerto Rico. We played shows almost every weekend, and sometimes twice a week. A year after we went into the studio and recorded "For ever you remain" all of us being straight edge decided to write music towards this direction. So a promise never broken became x promise never broken and our 7 tracks Ep came out. After a couple of years playing shows and such we all felt like we needed more, we were convinced we could be more than who we were, but in order to accomplish it we could not do it in Puerto Rico, so we decided to move to the US, and so we did. We all left everything behind and moved to Jacksonville Florida and with this new start the band was born again. We changed our name and music and we began again. Convalesce was born and this time the band was no longer just straight edge, but this time so much more, we all saw how our world was full of hate and we knew something needed to be done, so we then started to write music to give hope and show the love of Christ to others. "We can’t change the world but we surely can plant a seed". After 4 months Gerardo decided to leave the band for personal reasons and we all respected his decision, and so he did. In august of 2009 we started the production and recording of our latest Ep that was later released in November of the same year. And that’s how we were made.
Anthony, Vocals
David, Guitarist and Vocals
Luis, Bass
Elston, Drums

What's the message to transmit with your music??
Like I said before, hope and love. There is still much worth fighting for.

What's your method at the time of writing a song??
Most of the music is written and recorded by David (guitarist) " I grab my guitar, turn on the computer and start writing riffs, as soon as I write something I like, I program drums with Superior Drummer and record with pod farm and adobe audition, after I get everything recorded ill show it to the guys and then the song gets it shape, it takes us about a week to have a song and then we take as much time as we can perfecting it.

Which is your music influences??
Life, hope and heavy music. Bands that we are influence by: Underoath, veil of Maya, we came as Romans, periphery, for the fallen dream, it prevails, impending doom, as cities burn, and much more.

What plans do you have for the future??
We have a new management company (Realistic Artist Management, Don Henson) we will be recording new songs and shopping for labels and hopefully put out an Lp under a big label, and just start touring non stop and get our name out.

If you were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 100 miles away from where you are, ¿Who would you send to look for help?
I think we would all go but if we have to send some one, it would be Elston and then he would make David go with him.

And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, ¿Who would you eat first?
Luis, he has the most meat.

Which country you guys would love to play?
Paris, France.

With which bands you guys would love to share stage??
We would love to go on tour with every single band that we listen to.

Are you OK, with the direction the band is going actually?
We are doing very good, so far people have been amazing supporting us and everything is working out almost the way we want it to be, perhaps a little bit slow but I guess it all takes time, but with Gods help we will overcome it all and be were we need to be.

Decyfer Down

Q. I am curious, what’s the meaning out behind Decyfer Down?
A. The meaning of ‘decipher’ is to interpret something of worth. We chose the name because it represents our purpose and vision for the band: to interpret what God has done in our life and through our music.

Q. For people who don’t know, how did this all started?
A. This all got started several years ago when we wanted to create music that was able to reach the fringe people of our society and culture. Through a number of trials and stories God has given us the ability to create records and music that have given hope to many people.

Q. What’s the message you guys want to transmit with your music?
A. Through our music we want to translate God’s grace and love to people. God’s ready to meet them where they are at, all they have to do is accepting him and allow him to change their lives.

Q. Will you guys be releasing any music videos soon?
A. There is always talking of music videos.

Q. What's the story behind your latest release Crash?
A. The writing process for ‘Crash’ was us trying to talk about the many things God has done in our life, and also the many things He has delivered us from as we continue to strive in our Christian faith towards where we want to be. The songs have been able to connect with a wide range of people from all walks of life, and we’ve been able to see how the music has impacted so many people. Seeing lives changed gives us the fuel to continue on and to write more music.

Q. What's the difference in the sound with Crash and your past releases?
A. I think ‘Crash’ is a more mature sound than our past records, but it’s similar with the heavy guitars and big melodies.

Q. What plans do you guys have for the future?
A. We plan to continue to be used by God in whatever capacity He has for. After the last 10 years, there is no telling what he has planned for us!

Q. Have you guys been or took part while on tour? And if yes, which has been the funniest one?
A. Recently we started a set, Chris forgot we had started and decided to run out to the bus. He eventually came back up to the stage figured he would jump in even though he was a little late.

Q. What bands influence you guys?
A. A lot of our influences comes from the legends of rock; however, some of the best examples on how to be Christian “rockstars” come from our friends in Skillet.

Q. Are you guys OK with the direction of the band?
A. We never fully know the direction of the band, but we just try to stay in God’s will and trust Him to direct our steps.

On Call Heroes

Where the band's name come from?
I (Bronson) came up with the name because I’m a huge superman fan/ hero fan in general. I pitched it to the guys and they hated it at first. I kept bringing it up every chance I got because I loved it so much and it ended up growing on them. So I won! Haha

How did you guys begin?? Me and my brother Blaine have been in a lot of crappy bands that didn't really go very much farther then the garage. Me, Blaine and our drummer at the time Colby have been friends for a long time and Colby worked with Chris. Blaine Colby and I wanted to start a band and we needed a guitarist so Colby suggested Chris. We’ve been best friends ever since. Colby ended up leaving the band and now we have Spencer as our drummer and Ashton as our second guitarist

What's the message to transmit with your music??
We take performing music seriously because this is what we want to do in life. but we don't take ourselves very seriously so the message of each song varies quite a bit from serious songs to joke songs. But overall we like to portray that we are best friends playing the music we love to play.

What's your method at the time of writing a song??
It generally starts with Chris something written on guitar and then we all work around that changing it or adding to it. We all work together in song writing. It helps us get along that way :P

Which is your music influences??
We all love pop punk that's why we play it. But we don't just take influence from that. its mainly bands like blink 182 or newfound glory but we all love bands like foo fighters or mumford and sons

What plans do you have for the future??
Our goal right now is to push the album we just released as hard as we can. Get our names out there to labels and to people by touring and sending out press kits.

Which has been the funniest prank you have been or took part while on tour or after a show??
We do a lot of dumb things to each other but the funniest story I have about tour isn't really a prank. Our drummer at the time Colby was taking care of our money box. We had just finished our last show of the tour and started heading home. When we asked him where it was he had no idea. We were all freaking out because it obviously had the money we needed to get home. So we pulled over and he tried to figure out where he put it. it turns out he had set it on top of a van that belonged to the other band we were touring with before we had separated. Luckily it was still on top of their van when we called them even after they had driven a long ways.

If you were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 100 miles away from where you are, ¿Who would you send to look for help? And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, ¿Who would you eat first?
Haha I don't think we would be able to separate but if I had to I would probably send Blaine so that he would be safe from the cannibalism Hehehe. And I would sacrifice myself so that the other guys could eat. I couldn't eat another person Haha

Which country you guys would love to play?
We would honestly love to play anywhere and everywhere. We are based out of Canada but it would be really awesome to see how different the music scene is in other countries

With which bands you guys would love to share stage??
I would give anything to open up for blink 182. They were (and still are) my favorite band growing up. They are the reason me and my brother wanted to play music. Same with Chris. We are all avid blink fans

Are you OK, with the direction the band is going actually?
After releasing our second full length i really do love where this band is going. We have progressed so much since our first record and i feel we are only progressing more. I can’t wait to work our asses of to get our name out to every single person.

Ric Zweig is a talented guitarist and songwriter who embodies a charitable and grassroots musician that is all but dying of these days. His newest album Running Out Of Time, is a collection of heartland Americana and smooth pop songs, that make you feel fine, and want to hop in a convertible, or buy one. What makes it even better is that five dollars for each his albums sold will go to The American Cancer Society, so not only do you get a soundtrack to happiness and perseverance, you also may give someone else a chance to fight and persevere. Sounds to me like Ric has made a perfect win-win, situation.

L-Greeco

How the band started??
L-GREECO: I was 15 years old at the time I lived in Greece. I lay on the couch with eyes closed, thinking about life. And then I realized that music is my life. A few months later I returned to Russia and began to write music. At first it was a "salad" from different not fully compatible sounds. But eventually I began to understand what music is and how "to cook it". My name is Alex, and the short name sounds like Lex. I'm Greek. That's how my nickname came: L-GREECO.

What's the message to transmit with your music??
L-GREECO: As I always say, my music is an expression of myself. My music is my understanding of life expressed by the sound.

What's your method at the time of writing a song??
L-GREECO: You know, I have absolutely no methods! I just wake up, wash, eat, walk, and work ... Whatever I do in my head always played music. And I do not know how this music gets into my head. It comes out of nowhere. In such moments, I turn on the recorder on my cell phone and just sing, I make different sounds with my voice. At the moment I have over 500 different musical sketches. And when I come home I turn on my PC, load the program and GO!

Which is your music influences??
L-GREECO: And again as I always say, I can't say that I have been influenced by musicians or groups. I like the different styles of music from techno, electro, house, ambient to punk, metal, rock, new age and classic. I like a lot of different musicians, such as The Prodigy, The Crystal Method, Korn, Rammstein, Fluke, Stone Lions, Thomas Newman, Edward Shearmur, Carter Burwell, Boards of Canada, Jesper Kyd, U.N.K.L.E, Kraftwerk. Maybe my music is similar to other musicians in something. But it's not because I wanted to be like them or better than them. I think it's because I felt the same sense that they are; Because I saw the same that they had seen; Because I was thinking the same thing about what they thought; and because I expressed my feelings in my music the same way as other musicians expressed their feelings. I do only what I feel. If I feel joy, I play joyful music. If I feel anger, I play anger. If I feel calm, I play calm. If I feel love, I love play love: All honest. No lie. I don't try to be someone else. I'm just trying to be myself.

What plans do you have for the future??
L-GREECO: I do not have any plans at all. I was disappointed in the planning. As shown by my life experience: do not plan, live as if every day the last day. There is only what I WANT and what I DO NOT. I want to continue to write music. I want to finish my fifth album on which I have been working for five years. I want to get my music heard more people. I want my music touches more people.
There are still many things that I want, but they are too intimate :)

Which has been the funniest prank you have been or took part while on tour or after a show??
L-GREECO: I have no answer to this question.

If you were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 100 miles away from where you are, who would you send to look for help? And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, who would you eat first?
L-GREECO: I would eat myself :) Because nobody else :)

which country you guys would love to play?
L-GREECO: I would really like to play in London. London is cool! And I want to play in New York. New York is cool too! I have never been in London and New York+ But I'm sure it's cool! :)

With which bands you guys would love to share stage??
L-GREECO: Very simple question ... And at the same time very complicated ... For me it would be an honor to play with any musician, who sincerely believes in what he does. And of course for me it is important to understand and accept what makes the musician. There are many international celebrities whose work I just enrage! And also there are little-known musicians that I admire.
