MuckRaker

What's the meaning behind the band's name? The name MuckRaker was a term used to describe a journalist who exposed corruption.
This was back when there was free press and the news/media wasn't owned by large corperations.

How the band started??
The band started out with an add I posted looking for musicians to start a new Metal band. I had just quit the band I had been playing with for two years. They needed a drummer and had two CD's out when I joined so I was pretty much a hired gun. I wanted to start a band from scratch with musicians that were inspired by the same music that inspired me growing up. Will Price replied to my add and we got together at a local Atlanta pub to drink beer and talk music. We both had been around the block with several bands and shared a love for the same bands. So we got together the following week and started writting songs. We worked together just bass, drums and vocals for three months before we found Ryan Russell with a similar add posting. Ryan came in and had the songs down by the second practice.

What's the message to transmit with your music??
We are not a band that's out to deliver a message. Our songs cover everything from history, greed, corruption to drinking and enjoying life.
If there is a message we transmit with our music it is we love what we do.

What's your method at the time of writting a song?? We don't have a set formula for writting songs. In the past Will would come in with a bass line and a vocal idea. I would come up with a drum groove and when we played the parts together if we said "WOW" then it was just a matter of the arrangment. Ryan has been getting more involved with the writting and I have been writting some lyrics that may or may not see the light of day. We are open to trying new idea's when writting and we don't plan on standing still.

Which is your music influences??
We have so many influences I could never name them all. However if I had to come up with a short list. It would be the bands that have been around for years. Despite a music industry that is circling the drain. Being a Metal band we have to start with Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest then more recent bands like Corrosion of Conformity, Clutch, Helmet, Down and so on.

What plans do you guys have for the future??
Future plans are to continue writting music and performing live as much as we can for as long as we can.

Which has been the funniest prank you guys have been or took part while on tour or after a show??
I don't have a good prank story but we did play a show recently and this guy was doing flips off the front of the stage. So after the show we are hanging out with this guy and he is throwing back shots of tequila like its water. So the venue is about to close and we start heading for the door when this guy takes off running and does a flip off the corner of the stage. He lands face first and is out cold on the floor.

If you guys were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 65 miles away from where you guys are, ¿Who would you guys send to look for help? And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, ¿Who would you eat first? I would go for help I live in the city and walk a lot more than the other guy's. I think Will would end up eating Ryan. If you devided the guy's up into portions Ryan would feed a family of four for about two months.

Which country you guys would love to play? There is no place like home gotta go with the USA.
With which bands you guys would love to share stage?? That's a hard call, Speaking for myself it would be Metallica. Let's face it they are the biggest Metal band on the planet.

Are you guys OK, with the direction the band is going actually?
We are way more than just OK with the direction the band is headed in. Every show is bigger than the last and the MuckRaker set list is only getting longer.
