Clouds Makes Sounds

What's the meaning behind the band's name?
We all enjoy nature and we all really liked the name. There wasn’t much reason for the name, it just kind of happened.

How the band started?
Deron, Jeff, Joe, and I have been playing together at the Uptown Music Collective in Williamsport for a long time. Our first project was called Doc Mach and the Field Surgeons. When that band died we started Clouds. After being together for 7 months we decided we were ready to record our first album. While recording we decided we wanted Shannon to sing on a few tracks. After she sang, we decided that she should be in the band for good.

What's the message to transmit with your music?
Be happy with the life that you’re living. The music makes us happy and we want to express that emotion to anyone who wants to listen.

What's your method at the time of writing a song?
Deron and I normally bring initial ideas to practice, where we elaborate on the song until it feels right.

Who are your music influences?
Jeff Buckley, Grizzly Bear, Sigur Ros, Anathallo, Circa Survive, Fleet Foxes, Claude Debussy, Akron/Family, Minus The Bear, Radiohead, Brian Blade Fellowship, Incubus

What plans do you guys have for the future?
Once Joe graduates we plan to move to a city to write new songs, meet the right people, and set up tours.

Which has been the funniest prank you guys have been or took part while on tour or after a show?
This wasn’t at a show, but one night at practice we gave Shannon Joe’s bass, taught her a few lines, and told Joe he was kicked out of the band.

If you guys were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 65 miles away from where you guys are, ¿Who would you guys send to look for help? And while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, ¿Who would you eat first?
Well if we were stranded then chances are the “real” band members (Shannon, Jeff, Deron, and I) would leave to find help. Joe would stay to guard our belongings.

Which country you guys would love to play?
France?

With which bands you guys would love to share stage?
Minus the Bear, Grizzly Bear, Akron/Family, Anathallo, Fleet Foxes, Megafaun, Sigur Ros

Are you guys OK, with the direction the band is going actually?
We’re all friends. We all have the drive to play music as a band for as long as we possibly can. Also, our name seems to be getting more noticed in the area. So yes.
