Cory Taylor Cox
How did you started with all this??
I started playing drums in church when I was in high school. When I got in college I started playing guitar and writing songs. I began to tour and picked up the great musicians that make up my band.
What's the message to transmit with your music??
Party Time
What's your method at the time of writting a song??
I sit down and I usually try to write the whole song all at once. If i ever just come up with a piece of a song it usually stays just a piece of a song. Something new we're doing right now is trying to write as a whole band. it's interesting and fun. i think we'll get a new and better end result all collaborating together. we're also writing long-distance by emailing each other garage-band recorded demos in our free time.
Which is your music influences??
A lot of our friends are great musicians and they challenge us. Charlie Hardin, from Nashville, has been a big influence. We all really relate to our state-mates Colour Revolt and also Atlanta area bands like Manchester Orchestra and O'Brother. We hope to contribute to the movement of Indie Rock from the South.
What plans do you have for the future??
Currently planning 2 split albums. a solo Cory Taylor Cox and St. Louis twin cuties Dubb Nubb on colored vinyl and then a release as Cory Taylor Cox the full band on CD w/ Australian band The Retreat.
Hopefully with those new recordings we can really show off our new sound and play more shows, win more hearts.
Which has been the funniest prank you have been or took part while on tour or after a show??
We're all pretty mean to each other and have a lot of fun at shows and on the road.
At every show I try to announce that it's our drummer, Tyler's birthday. his 21st birthday, no matter if it really is or not. Hopefully this announcement gets us free drinks or gets Tyler the attention of the ladies. he's the youngest and most shy member of the band so it's a fun little joke.
If you were stranded in the middle of nowhere after a show or while on tour. The help is 65 miles away from where you and your band (If any) are, ¿Who would you send to look for help? And if while the rest wait, there's no food and the only way to feed yourself is by eating each other, ¿Who would you eat first? I'm vegetarian so I would offer myself to be eaten, but i'd be sure to figure out someway to go down in a blaze of glory. as sure we all would.
Which country you would love to play? Australia! or all of Europe and Venezuela. and maybe Japan.
With which bands you would love to share stage??
Led Zepplin or Lady Gaga,
Are you OK, with the direction the band is going actually? Yeah, it's a slow and steady process, but we're ready to get this party started.
